Why Access to Child Care Matters – A Quick Video Message from BrightSpark

Why Access to Child Care Matters

Hey there!

Today, we want to share why access to affordable, high-quality child care is so crucial not just for families, but to all of us across King and Pierce Counties.

In this short video, we share how access to reliable child care is essential for the well-being of everyone. It opens doors for parents to work, grow in their careers, and provide for their families. It offers children a safe, nurturing environment where they can learn and thrive. It’s a simple but effective solution to breaking down the barriers created by inequities in our systems and strengthens our community as a whole. When child care is accessible, parents and caregivers can fully engage in the workforce, contribute to the economy, and in turn, build a stronger, more equitable community for all.

At BrightSpark, we are proud to support families in accessing the care they need through the Child Care Aware of Washington Family Center, a statewide call center designed to help families find and pay for child care as well as connect families with resources. We also administer multiple subsidy programs to help families afford quality care. By supporting families in these ways, we are helping to ensure that every child and caregiver has the tools and support they need to thrive.

Take a moment to watch our video and see how your support helps make a real difference in the lives of children, families, providers and community members alike.

Thank you for helping us create a future where every family has the support they need to succeed!

From July 2023 to June 2024

We distributed over $14,000,000 in subsidies to help with tuition, copays and more AND we connected nearly 4,000 caregivers to early learning programs that met their entire family’s unique needs!

There’s more than one way to give!
