Early Learning is at Risk — But Together, We Can Protect & Preserve Vital Programs!
Our Bloom Together campaign is about more than just raising funds—it’s about showing up for children, families, and caregivers during a pivotal moment. As Washington’s House and Senate negotiate and work to pass a new budget, the Governor opposes progressive revenue solutions. Without new investments, we face deeper cuts and the possible elimination of services that families and providers rely on.
One program at risk is Holding Hope—the statewide Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program, which pairs culturally and linguistically matched mental health professionals with licensed child care providers. This work helps children navigate big emotions, supports providers with trauma-informed care, and ensures children at risk of expulsion or exclusionary discipline stay in care. It’s about prevention, belonging, and connection.
But with the proposed Senate budget, staffing for Holding Hope at BrightSpark would drop from 9 to just 1. That’s a devastating loss for our region—and for the children, families, and providers depending on us.
Cuts would mean:
- Fewer children are receiving early behavioral and developmental support
- More expulsions from child care, harming family stability
- Less coaching and care for educators
- Decreased capacity to prevent burnout in a vital workforce
