About SPP
The Seattle Preschool Program is a combined effort between BrightSpark Early Learning Services, Seattle’s Department of Education & Early Learning, and Family Child Care Centers located throughout the city. SPP was created for the purpose of preparing 3 and 4-year-olds for kindergarten and beyond, while offering resources for their entire family, including:
-
An accredited curriculum focused on school readiness
-
Convenient, accessible locations across Seattle
-
Health and development screenings for children
-
Tuition and financial assistance for families
-
And so much more!
Developmental Screenings
Seattle Preschool program uses the ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE for Developmental Screenings. These tools are completed by the family and allow teachers to partner with families to best support each child’s communication, gross motor, fine motor, problem solving, personal-social and social emotional development.
Our Curriculum
SPP’s accredited curriculum was designed to prepare children for the rest of their K-12 career, and make their transition into kindergarten as smooth as possible. SPP does this by not only supporting kids’ academic skills, but their social and emotional development as well.Â
The Seattle Preschool Program revolves around care that:
-
Is individualized to meet the unique needs of every enrolled child
-
Prepares children for school and life
-
Connects families to their child(ren)’s learning
Is SPP right for your family?
To be eligible for the Seattle Preschool Program, families must live within Seattle City limits. Applications and enrollment are processed on a rolling basis, meaning families can apply at any time! Eligible children will be matched with the SPP-partnering Family Child Care Center. Many families enrolled in SPP receive tuition assistance through the city of Seattle, based on their household’s annual income and the number of children in their care.
Households of 2 or more with a gross income of under $70,000 a year qualify for fully-subsidized care!
