Families receive an Award Letter for each child, which includes the child’s subsidy approval details. This letter can be used to verify a child’s eligibility, the family’s subsidy award period, and the subsidy amount. You should check the Award Letter to confirm the child’s subsidy eligibility and ensure the subsidy will cover the care costs.

Learn more about being a Best Starts Subsidy Provider
How it works:
-
1. Serve an Eligible Family
A family receiving the Best Starts for Kids subsidy must select you as their provider. Families qualify based on eligibility criteria, and once they choose your program, you can begin the enrollment process.
-
2. Verify Care and Payment Info
When a family selects you as their provider, we will ask you to verify that you are providing care and submit your payment information. To participate in the program, you must be licensed by Washington State as a Child Care Center, Family Child Care provider, or School-Age Only program. We want to ensure you get paid quickly and easily, so we'll send you a New Vendor Onboarding Packet to collect your W-9, licensing information, and direct deposit (ACH) information.
-
3. Provide Care and Get Paid
Once care begins, you’ll submit payment requests based on the child’s approved schedule. Payments are processed regularly, ensuring you receive timely reimbursement for the care you provide.
